Welcome to DIET Pitampura, Delhi

District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET)s were set up as institutes at the district level after the National Policy of Education,1986 in approx. 500 districts of India for Universalisation of Elementary Education and to improve quality of elementary education. Pre-service teacher education and In-service teacher training are the major responsibilities of all DIETs.

DIETs in Delhi are run by the Govt. of Delhi which conducts a two-year Diploma Course in Elementary Teacher Education where most students are senior secondary pass outs at entry level, from all streams of +2 education, heterogeneous in terms of culture, language and intellectual level. District Institute Of Education & Training (DIET) Pitampura, Delhi came into existence on July, 1997 as centrally sponsored scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource & Development under the administrative control of State Council of Educational Research &Training (SCERT), Delhi as an apex body at state level.
